About 36 Frames

Understand our commitments and your rights when using our platform.

Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 4 October 2026 | Last Updated: 4 October 2026

By creating an account or using the Service, you enter into a legally binding agreement with Prometheus Labs Limited. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the photo album web application (the "Service") operated by Prometheus Labs Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 14885245, ICO Registration No. ZB722768, registered office: 14/2E Docklands Business Centre, 10-16 Tiller Road, London E14 8PX, UK).

1. Use of the Service

Our Service lets you upload and share digital photo albums with up to 36 photos each, interact with others, and control privacy settings.

1.1. Plans

36 Frames is free. There are no paid plans:

  • Free: everyone starts here, with up to 3 albums and uploads up to 1920px.
  • Plus: more albums, free, on request.
  • Ultra: more albums and 4K (3840px) uploads, free, on request.

You can ask for Plus or Ultra on our Support page. Upgrades are granted at the sole discretion of Prometheus Labs Limited: we are under no obligation to grant a request, and there is no guarantee that an upgrade will be granted or will continue. We may change or withdraw upgrades and their limits at any time, and will give notice where we reasonably can.

Upgrades are subject to fair use: more albums, within reason. To protect the Service from abuse, upgraded accounts have limits that we don't publish and may change.

If you find 36 Frames useful, you can support it with a contribution. Contributions are voluntary, are made through Stripe, and are not charitable donations (Prometheus Labs Limited is not a charity). A contribution doesn't unlock any features and has no bearing on upgrade requests.

1.2. Usage Restrictions

The Service is for personal, non-commercial use only.

1.3. Fair Use Policy

We apply a Fair Use Policy to ensure quality for all. Excessive use may lead to throttling or temporary limits.

1.4. Consumer Rights

If you are a UK or EEA consumer, you can cancel a paid subscription within 14 days unless you choose to access digital content immediately, which waives that right.

2. Prohibited Content

You can only upload content you own or have rights to use. You must not share:

  • Sexually explicit or adult material
  • Violence or self-harm content
  • Hate speech, harassment, or discrimination
  • Infringements of others' intellectual property
  • Illegal, fraudulent, or unethical material
  • Private images of others without permission

3. Content Ownership and License

You keep ownership of your uploaded content but grant us a license to host and share it to provide the Service.

4. Intellectual Property

Our platform, branding, and software are owned by Prometheus Labs Limited or its partners. You cannot copy or reuse them without permission.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the platform legally and respectfully
  • Keep your login secure
  • Respect others' privacy and rights
  • Report abuse to support@36frames.me

6. Termination and Moderation

We may suspend accounts or remove content that breaches these Terms or the law.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability except for liability arising from death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

See our Privacy Policy below for details on how we handle your personal data.

9. Governing Law

These Terms follow the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled by the English courts.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We will let you know about major changes through the Service or by email.

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 4 October 2026 | Last Updated: 8 October 2026

We care about your privacy and want to be clear about how we use your information. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it. We follow UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and similar laws.

Who We Are

The data controller is Prometheus Labs Limited, registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), number ZB722768.

1. What Data We Collect

  • Your name, email, and profile settings
  • Your uploaded photos and albums
  • Technical data like your IP address and browser
  • Security data to protect your account

2. Why We Collect It

  • To provide and improve the Service
  • To keep your account safe
  • To respond to your questions
  • To meet our legal obligations

3. Legal Reasons We Use Your Data

  • To fulfil our contract with you
  • To meet legal requirements
  • For our legitimate interests, like improving security
  • With your consent, where needed

4. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

5. Sharing Your Data

  • With trusted providers who help us run the platform (listed below)
  • When required by law or authorities
  • With people you choose to share your albums with

The providers we use, and what they handle for us:

  • Vercel hosts the website (EU region).
  • Prisma hosts our database: your account, profile and albums (EU).
  • Cloudflare stores and delivers your photos (EU), and forwards emails you send to our @36frames.me addresses to our inbox without storing them.
  • Upstash provides rate limiting to protect the service from abuse; it sees IP addresses (EU).
  • Resend sends our sign-in emails from servers in Ireland (EU); it stores your email address and delivery records in the United States.
  • Zoho Mail hosts our team inbox in the United States. When you create an account, we receive an internal email with your account ID and email address, so we know who has joined; it is kept in our mailbox and deleted with your account on request.
  • Stripe processes contributions, if you choose to make one: it receives your name, email and payment details. We see your name, email and the amount, never your card details.

6. Your Rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or move your data. You can object to how we use it or withdraw consent where applicable. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

7. Data Location and Transfers

Your data is stored in the European Union to ensure high levels of data protection. We keep encrypted backups of our database for 30 days. Our sign-in emails are sent from Ireland (EU), but our email provider, Resend, stores your email address and delivery records in the United States; that transfer is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). Our team inbox, where we receive your messages and a notice when you create an account, is hosted by Zoho Mail in the United States; that transfer is also covered by SCCs. If we ever need to send other data outside the UK or EU, we use legal safeguards like the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or SCCs.
